I was working in a parlour a couple of years back, where in the space of three days 5 of the girls were calling in sick and they couldn't come to work for two weeks. This occurance, of course threw the work-roster right out of whack resulting in lost income for everyone.
The cause of the sudden onset of illness?  Chlamydia.  It turned out that a particular client had bribed all five of the girls to omit the use of a condom, as he was a married man, and never played around before. (lies, all lies) They had each accepted an extra $100 for this deal. This client had deliberately set out to infect each of the girls, and actually thought it was funny.

 His idea of fun cost these girls dearly - not only had they lost their health, and their income for two weeks, they were banned from working in that Parlour because the Management did not tolerate unsafe sex practices on premises.            NO EXCUSES. EVER.
